The Research Dialogue is committed to the broad dissemination of scholarly knowledge and supports open access as an important means of improving the accessibility, visibility and academic impact of research. The journal provides online access to its published scholarly content so that readers can engage with research without conventional subscription barriers.

The journal believes that wider access to reliable research strengthens academic communication, supports teaching and learning, encourages interdisciplinary dialogue and enables scholars from different institutions, regions and countries to participate more fully in the exchange of knowledge.

01   IMMEDIATE OPEN ACCESS

Access to Published Research

Articles published in The Research Dialogue are made available through the journal's online platform so that readers can access scholarly research without conventional subscription barriers.

The journal supports timely dissemination of scholarly work and seeks to minimise unnecessary restrictions that could prevent researchers, educators, students and other legitimate readers from accessing published research.

The availability of an article through open access does not remove the obligation to respect authorship, copyright, applicable licensing conditions, proper attribution and research-integrity requirements.

02   NO SUBSCRIPTION BARRIER FOR READERS

Free Online Reading

Readers may access published journal content online without being required to purchase a conventional journal subscription merely for the purpose of reading the available articles.

This approach is intended to reduce financial and institutional barriers to scholarly knowledge and to support researchers who may not have access to extensive subscription-based academic resources.

The Research Dialogue is a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research journal. Open access enables research published in one academic discipline to become visible to scholars working in other areas, thereby supporting intellectual exchange beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.

Published research may address education, humanities, social sciences, languages, economics, commerce, management, mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, technology, engineering, law, agriculture, health sciences, environmental studies and other academic fields within the journal's broad scope.

By making multidisciplinary research openly accessible, the journal seeks to encourage collaboration, comparative inquiry and new connections between different fields of scholarship.

05   COPYRIGHT AND OPEN ACCESS

Open Access Does Not Mean Absence of Copyright

The fact that an article is freely accessible online does not automatically place the work in the public domain and does not remove copyright or other intellectual-property rights associated with the publication.

Copyright ownership, author rights and permissions for reuse are governed by the copyright agreement, publication terms and any specific licence applicable to the individual article.

Readers and other users must respect the rights of authors, publishers and third-party copyright holders when reproducing, distributing, adapting or otherwise reusing material from the journal.

Citation and Attribution

Open access facilitates scholarly use of published research, but it does not eliminate the obligation to acknowledge the original source. Researchers and readers who use ideas, arguments, findings, data or other material from a published article must provide appropriate citation and attribution.

Citation should identify the relevant author or authors and provide sufficient publication information to allow the original source to be located.

Presenting openly accessible research as one's own work, removing author attribution or failing to cite the original source may constitute plagiarism or another form of academic misconduct.

Responsible Scholarly Use of Published Content

Published content may be used in accordance with the copyright and licensing conditions applicable to the article. Readers and users should ensure that any reuse of journal material remains academically responsible and legally permissible.

✓ Accurate Representation: The meaning, findings and conclusions of the original work should not be distorted or misleadingly represented.

Author Responsibility Continues after Open Publication

Open-access publication does not reduce the authors' responsibility for the originality, accuracy, reliability, legality and ethical integrity of their published work.

Authors must ensure that material included in their manuscripts does not unlawfully infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, data-protection requirements or other intellectual-property rights.

Where third-party material requires permission for open publication or redistribution, obtaining that permission remains the responsibility of the authors unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Author Self-Archiving

Authors may wish to preserve or share versions of their scholarly work through institutional repositories, personal academic webpages or other legitimate scholarly platforms. Any such sharing should remain consistent with the copyright agreement and applicable publication or licensing conditions.

Where an author deposits or shares a permitted version of the work, appropriate bibliographic information should be provided and, where possible, readers should be directed to the formally published version of record.

Authors should not distribute versions in a manner that creates confusion regarding the authoritative published article or violates rights associated with third-party material.

10   ARCHIVING AND LONG-TERM ACCESS

Supporting Continuing Availability

The Research Dialogue seeks to support the continuing availability of its published scholarly record through appropriate digital publishing, metadata management, backup and archiving practices.

Where the journal participates in recognised digital preservation, repository or archiving arrangements, such mechanisms may be used to help maintain access to published articles over time.

Long-term preservation supports the reliability of scholarly communication by helping ensure that published research remains discoverable and accessible beyond the immediate publication period.

Supporting Discoverability of Published Scholarship

Openly accessible research is more readily available for discovery by readers, academic search systems, libraries, scholarly databases and other legitimate research-information services.

The Research Dialogue seeks to support the discoverability of published work through appropriate metadata, article information, online publication and indexing or scholarly discovery arrangements where applicable.

Greater visibility may help published research reach relevant academic and professional communities, but open access itself does not guarantee citation, indexing or a particular level of scholarly impact.

Open Access for Education and Research

The journal recognises the important contribution of freely accessible scholarly literature to teaching, learning, research supervision, academic training and professional development.

Openly available research can assist students and scholars in accessing literature from different disciplines and can support academic institutions where subscription resources may be limited.

Educational use of published material must nevertheless remain consistent with proper citation, academic integrity, copyright, applicable licensing conditions and other relevant legal or ethical requirements.

13   OPEN ACCESS AND PUBLICATION CHARGES

Reader Access and Author Charges Are Separate Matters

Open access describes the availability of published scholarly content to readers and should be distinguished from any publication fee, processing charge or other author-side cost that may apply to manuscript publication.

Where the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) or another publication-related fee, the applicable amount, conditions and payment information should be communicated transparently through the journal's relevant fee or APC policy.

Editorial screening, peer review and publication decisions should be based on scholarly quality, originality, relevance and ethical compliance and should not be determined by an author's ability to make a payment.

14   OPEN ACCESS AND PEER REVIEW

Open Accessibility Does Not Reduce Editorial Standards

The open-access status of The Research Dialogue does not reduce the academic standards applied to submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts remain subject to editorial screening, peer review and applicable publication-ethics requirements.

Publication decisions are based on factors such as originality, scholarly relevance, methodological quality, clarity, ethical compliance and contribution to knowledge.

Open access concerns how published research is made available to readers; it does not replace or weaken the journal's peer-review and editorial quality-control processes.

Third-Party Material

An openly accessible article may contain figures, photographs, datasets, maps, illustrations or other material for which rights are held by parties other than the article authors or journal.

The open-access status of the article does not automatically extend to every item of third-party content contained within it. Users should examine relevant acknowledgements, credit lines, copyright notices or licensing information before reusing such material.

Where separate permission is required, the responsibility for obtaining that permission rests with the person wishing to reuse the protected material.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION

Open Access Does Not Mean Unrestricted Ownership

Making an article freely available for reading does not permit plagiarism, removal of author attribution, false claims of authorship, misleading modification, unauthorised commercial exploitation or disregard of applicable copyright and third-party rights.

The precise permissions available for reuse depend upon the copyright and licensing conditions applicable to the published article. Users are responsible for ensuring that their proposed use complies with those conditions.

LICENSING AND REUSE

Applicable Licensing Conditions

The rights available to readers for copying, redistribution, adaptation or other forms of reuse depend upon the copyright and licence formally applied to the article or journal.

Where a specific open licence is displayed with an article, users should comply with the terms of that licence. Where no specific reuse licence is stated, users should not assume that unrestricted reuse is automatically permitted merely because the article can be accessed without payment.

The journal may publish separate copyright or licensing information describing author rights and permitted reuse in greater detail.
