Commitment to Open Knowledge

The Research Dialogue is committed to the broad, equitable and responsible dissemination of scholarly knowledge. The journal follows an open-access publishing model under which published articles are made freely available online to readers throughout the world without subscription, registration or payment barriers.

The journal believes that immediate access to research supports academic development, encourages collaboration, improves the visibility of scholarly work and enables students, teachers, researchers, professionals, institutions and members of the public to benefit from current knowledge.

Open access does not remove the responsibility to respect authorship, copyright, licensing conditions, research ethics or the integrity of the published scholarly record. All reuse must comply with the licence and attribution information displayed with the relevant article.

IMMEDIATE PUBLIC AVAILABILITY

Open-Access Model

All articles published in The Research Dialogue are made openly and freely accessible through the journal website immediately after publication. The journal does not impose a subscription requirement, access fee, institutional login or embargo period on readers seeking to view published scholarly content.

Readers may access the full text of published articles for academic, educational, research and other lawful purposes, subject to the copyright and licensing conditions stated on the journal website and within the individual article.

Rights of Readers

✓ Readers may access and read published articles without subscription or payment.

✓ Articles may be downloaded and stored for legitimate personal, academic, educational or research use.

✓ Readers may link to the journal’s article pages and share the official article URL or DOI where available.

✓ Published work may be used for teaching, learning and scholarly discussion where the applicable licence permits such use.

✓ Every reuse must preserve proper acknowledgement of the authors, article title, journal name and publication details.

AUTHORSHIP AND OWNERSHIP

Author Rights and Copyright

Authors retain recognition for their intellectual contribution and must be properly identified whenever their published work is accessed, quoted, shared or reused. The copyright arrangement applicable to an article shall be governed by the journal’s Copyright Policy, Author Agreement and the licence displayed with the published article.

Publication in the journal does not permit plagiarism, false attribution, misrepresentation of authorship or removal of essential bibliographic information. The names of the authors, article title, journal title, publication year and permanent identifier should be preserved in any lawful reuse.

Authors may share the official published version or an authorised manuscript version through personal webpages, institutional repositories, academic profiles or other scholarly platforms where such sharing is consistent with the applicable licence and journal policy.

Licensing and Permitted Reuse

The specific licence governing access and reuse will be displayed on the journal website, within the article or in the article metadata. Readers and users are responsible for reviewing and complying with the licence applicable to the content they intend to use.

Subject to the applicable licence, users may be permitted to copy, distribute, display, quote, translate, adapt or otherwise reuse published material. Proper attribution to the original authors and source is required in every case.

Where a licence restricts commercial reuse, modification or redistribution, users must obtain any additional permission required before undertaking such activities. Open access must not be interpreted as a transfer of authorship or an unrestricted waiver of all legal and ethical rights.

Attribution Requirements

Appropriate acknowledgement is a fundamental condition of responsible open access. Any permitted reuse of published content should clearly identify the original scholarly source.

RIGHTS AND PERMISSIONS

Third-Party Material

Articles may contain photographs, figures, tables, maps, illustrations, datasets, quotations or other material owned by third parties. Such material may be subject to separate copyright, licensing or permission conditions even when included within an open-access article.

Unless third-party material is clearly included under the article’s open-access licence, users must obtain permission from the relevant rights holder before reproducing, adapting or redistributing it beyond legally permitted use.

Authors are responsible for obtaining any permissions required for third-party content before publication and for providing accurate acknowledgement of the source and rights holder.

Version of Record

The version of an article formally published on the journal website represents the official Version of Record. Readers should ordinarily cite and link to this version because it contains the final bibliographic details, editorial approval, pagination, publication date and permanent identifier where assigned.

When an article is corrected, retracted or otherwise updated, the journal may publish an appropriate notice and connect it clearly with the affected article to preserve the transparency and reliability of the scholarly record.

Repository and Scholarly Sharing

Authors are encouraged to increase the responsible visibility of their research by sharing permitted versions of their articles through institutional repositories, subject repositories, academic profiles, personal webpages and scholarly communication networks.

Repository deposits should include complete citation information and, wherever possible, a link to the official journal article or DOI. Authors should ensure that the version shared is consistent with the journal’s copyright, licensing and self-archiving conditions.

Unauthorised modification, removal of attribution, misleading republication or presentation of an earlier manuscript as the final published version is not permitted.

Digital Availability and Preservation

The journal seeks to maintain reliable online availability of published content and may use suitable technical, institutional or digital-preservation arrangements to protect access to the scholarly record.

Article metadata may be shared with indexing services, discovery systems, libraries, repositories and scholarly databases to improve identification, citation, preservation and global accessibility.

Any specific preservation or archiving service formally adopted by the journal may be identified separately on the journal website.

RESPONSIBLE USE

Prohibited and Misleading Use

False Authorship: Published material must not be presented as the original work of another person or organisation.
Misleading Modification: Content must not be altered in a manner that misrepresents the authors’ findings, arguments or conclusions.
Removal of Attribution: Author names, source details, licence information and essential publication metadata must not be removed where acknowledgement is required.
Unlawful Commercial Exploitation: Commercial reuse must comply with the applicable article licence and any permission requirements.
Misrepresentation of Endorsement: Reuse must not imply that the authors, journal, editors or publisher endorse a product, service, opinion or organisation without explicit permission.

Policy Transparency

The journal may revise this Open Access Policy to reflect changes in its copyright arrangements, licensing framework, publishing practices, legal obligations or technological infrastructure. The version displayed on the official journal website shall represent the current policy.

Where the terms displayed on an individual article differ from a general statement on the website, the copyright and licence information attached to the specific article shall govern its permitted use.
